Spring cleaning is around the corner once again. Though it isn’t our first time giving spring cleaning tips (link), we’re back with some tips we’ve learned from the new Marie Kondo series on Netflix. If you haven’t watched it yet, make sure you do for some inspiration.
Here are the key tips we’ve learned from the series.
Do a little bit every day. If you go for it all at once, you will probably get overwhelmed.
Go by category, not room. Separates items by clothes, books, papers/documents, komono (miscellaneous) and sentimental items.
Keep only what brings you joy.
If you have a hard time parting with something you collect such as baseball cards or books, narrow it down to the ones that mean the absolute most to you.
When it comes to clothing, think of what you wear regularly. If you haven’t worn it in over a year, you probably won’t wear it.
Try the KonMari folding method in which everything is standing upright/vertically so that you can see everything when you open a drawer; don’t pile things.
Get help from a friend, partner or family member to help sift down your belongings.
Make sure everything has a place.
